Best grouper in town”. “One of the best meals I’ve ever had in my life!” “You guys have a good thing going over there.” “Thank you for always serving us a delicious meal and wonderful service. Chef Anthony Fiorini is awesome!” These are all testimonials featured on 13 American Table’s website, and after glancing at the featured menu, we couldn’t help but wholeheartedly put our belief into the aforementioned comments. After all, the internet doesn’t lie, right?

13 American Table can be considered a baby restaurant among other established restaurants. Birthed on July 25 of 2013, the restaurant full of new American cuisine is just 1 ½ years old. It is also owned by the Aletto family with Alberto Aletto as its owner. Prices are fairly reasonable, ranging from $8 for share plates, $13 for “sang-wiches” and market price for seafood items.

A rather popular dish that’s also reasonably priced at $15 dollars, the Hoisin BBQ Octopus is on the share plates portion on the menu. The octopus tentacles are served nestled in an Asian noodle and vegetable salad with sesame seeds and ginger dressing. Sounding delicious, eclectic and mouthwatering, we asked Chef Anthony what makes this particular food item so special. “The tender Spanish octopus,” he said. “It is braised with rice wine vinegar, sake, ginger, lemongrass, shallots, garlic, cinnamon, star anise, cilantro and thyme then grilled in our Josper oven [a very pricey oven that also works as an indoor grill].” Special ingredients in the seafood dish are Hoisin sauce and hoshi soba noodles.

As if the name isn’t a strong enough indication, it is pretty apparent that the food and décor is of American descent. Chef Anthony validated our suspicions not only by telling us that the food is American cuisine, but by describing the interior to us. He explained, “It has the feel of a modern industrial mountain lodge: a chandelier made of concrete wire mesh, textured chartreuse walls [and] up-lit wooden branches.” If that doesn’t scream “all American dining experience”, we don’t know what does.
