A Month-Long All Female, and Pink, Art Exposition

Local artist Sarah LaPierre and curator Gaby Viteri are coming together to introduce the inaugural Pink Waves exhibit at The Peach in West Palm Beach this October. The event is presented by First Female, a group of women artists whose goal is to elevate women in the art community. This all-female collective will include all new works of art from local artists featuring pink as the “hero” color. “That prompt [pink as a hero color] has been up to the artist to reflect on and interpret in their own voice. We really want to celebrate each artist’s unique style while giving them the opportunity to lean into and explore creating in a color palette that they may not have utilized much before,” said Sarah.

The dedication to pink is in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Pink Waves is also donating a portion of proceeds to The Promise Fund of Florida, an organization that helps women in Palm Beach County get access to breast and cervical cancer treatment.

Pink may be a common theme, but the variety of media and styles are sure to satisfy any anti-conformist attitude. “Gaby Viteri and I began pulling together a list of artists who are really shaping this next wave of the art scene in Palm Beach County and throughout South Florida,” said Sarah. The artists include sculptors, painters, crochet artists, ceramic artists and more.

The exhibit will also include events and classes throughout the month. There’s a watercolor workshop with Jenny Kiker, POYO Pop up Yoga with Gina DeRiso, and Tutu Tuesday Trick-or-Treating to close out the month. You can view the complete schedule online.

Pink Waves’ grand opening will take place on Thursday, Oct. 5 and is free to attend. Visitors will have the opportunity to view the gallery and meet the artists. After the grand opening, the art will be on display all month long and is open to the public for viewing every Wednesday, Friday and Saturday from 5:30-8:30 p.m..
