Ultimate relaxation is something we all strive to find. Whether we are searching for it in our wellness routines by adding yoga to our schedule or hoping to clear our minds by getting rid of clutter in our homes, the quest for a calm body and mind is always top of mind. Luckily, here in Palm Beach County, we officially have a place that not only lets us achieve that ultimate relaxation but is enjoyable too. Float8 is a float center that recently opened a new location in Delray Beach. They use flotation therapy, a holistic wellness treatment, to ease anxiety, help you sleep better, lessen muscle aches and pains, and even improve your ability to focus.

The float tank, also called a sensory deprivation tank, works by using Epsom salt to create a zero-gravity experience so you can float easily. This allows the mind to slip into a meditative-like state. Professional athletes have used floatation therapy for years, and now local residents can get the same benefits, thanks to husband and wife co-owners Matt and Destiny Beck.

After experiencing tragic loss in his family, Matt Beck knew it was time for not only a career change, but a lifestyle change as well. After discovering floatation therapy for his own wellbeing, he realized it was something he had to help bring to the masses. “My first float was challenging honestly, but I was desperate enough to try it again,” he said. “My third float is when I experienced this encompassing feeling of ‘this is how I’m supposed to feel!’ I had forgotten what it felt like to not be redlined all the time. As my float practice developed, so did other improvements in my life like my yoga practice, regular workouts, and a return to the soccer pitch and volleyball courts. These lifestyle changes led to a clarity of what was working and what was not.”

Matt and his wife, Destiny, opened Float8 in 2017 and since then, they have opened four additional locations, the newest here in Delray Beach. When entering Float8, you’ll be met with a chill, hip, and inspiring vibe, along with floating expertise by a float facilitator. “We have worked hard and logged countless hours in the float tanks to establish ourselves as float experts. And after facilitating nearly 65,000 floats, we feel confident that we have our processes dialed in.” Before you enter the float tank, you are greeted by a float facilitator who will educate you on all of the benefits and what to expect, address any questions or concerns, and give tips for how to get the most out of your experience. “[Our clients] emerge with what we come to recognize as the post-float-glow, often exclaiming that they can’t remember the last time they felt so relaxed and refreshed.”

First time floaters can purchase an Intro3 package, which offers a buy two get one free float experience. Once you get hooked, membership options are available as well.
