West Palm Wine Co. Has the Recs for Natural Libations
Summer may be winding down, but a refreshing bottle of wine never goes out of season. Our friends at West Wine Co., Michael and Theresa, picked four of their favorites for this heat with our readers in mind. West Palm Wine Co. is a new endeavor that popped up in West Palm Beach this year to fill the niche of natural, organic wines for a reasonable price. They included descriptions of each so that you can do more than judge a bottle by its label.
Whether you’re looking for a wine with a bold color, a unique origin story, or that can be described as “meaty” — we’re still not sure about that last one — there is a pick for you.
2022 Poderi Cellario IL Barrusco, Italy
A dynamite fizzy dry red from Piedmont, Italy. A perfect pairing with your summery al fresco meals—think pizza.
Organic, Natural Wine $22.99
2021 Casa Balaguer Moscatel, Spain
Have you ever had orange wine? No, it is not made with oranges, but rather it is an ancient technique where the white grape skins macerate with the pulpy juice to imbue the wine with an amber hue. Full bodied, flowery, and tea like.
Organic, Natural Wine $34.99
2019 Valerie Forgues Cot, France
Cot, pronounced K-O-H is another name for Malbec! Yes, most people think all Malbec hails from Argentina, but its true origins are in France. Made by a bad*ss female winemaker in the Loire Valley. It’s bold, meaty, and chewy. It screams for a Burger or its Impossible iteration.
Organic, Natural $22.99
2022 Beurer Riesling Trocken, Germany
A dry, yes dry Riesling. This could be one of our favorite grapes because of its versatility at the table — it seems to just marry so well with everything. The winemaker was an ex-euro BMX champ turned organic farmer, anything is possible.
Biodynamic, Natural $24.99
At Casa Mara — 3131 S Dixie Hwy, West Palm Beach
