Community Building — One Charm at a Time

By Haley Dockendorff

If you catch a glimmer of gold in the lineup of longboards on the Palm Beaches, it might be jewelry designer Logan Poos, also known as Logan Tay.

Born and raised in Florida, Logan started her own empire right in the heart of her hometown. As a little girl, Logan’s mother would find her taking scissors to her old clothes, cutting them up, and making new pieces from the scraps. That’s when she knew Logan would grow up to become someone creative.

Logan first began her business, originally named Lo Tide Jewelry, six years ago out of her own home. It wasn’t until the pandemic rocked everyone’s world, including Logan’s, that she began pursuing jewelry designing full-time. In just those short years, Logan has gained a following of nearly 50,000 people on the label’s Instagram page. It’s no secret why — Logan’s design and brand style radiate playful colors, textures and sophistication simultaneously.

Her inspiration for her designs comes from her experiences growing up in Florida. The ocean and surfing are Logan’s “greatest loves in life,” and the seashells, colors and playful spirit of the sea inspire her jewelry. Her pieces come in various styles: bracelets, necklaces, earrings, and more. Gold is the central metal Logan makes her jewelry with, using chunky chains and personalized charms to add her own style. She uses seashells, diamonds, gemstones and even bright-colored fabrics woven into the metals.

The glitter of gold isn’t the only thing that draws people to the Logan Tay brand. The team works with the Quantum House, a facility that provides housing for families whose children are receiving treatment nearby for serious conditions. The House has 30 guest suites, community kitchens, playrooms, a business center, fitness center, laundry rooms and more.

“I volunteered there a few years ago, and ever since then, I couldn’t stay away,” said Logan. “The kids are superheroes, and they inspire me in life to never give up and always have a smile on my face.”

The Logan Tay team aims to visit the house once a month, where they create bracelets with the children.

Looking for even more ways to connect with the community that didn’t revolve around jewelry, Logan started a surf club. The most recent meeting was at Carlin Park in Jupiter, where she invited surfers of all ages and abilities to hang out and create connections. She teams up with other brands during these meetups, collaborating with local companies like Third Eye Studio and Carve Surf and Coffee.

“I have met the best people through surfing,” said Logan, “I have learned my greatest lessons in the ocean, and I wanted to bring the joy of the ocean to my community.”

Logan Tay has also collaborated with other artists in her jewelry pieces. Most recently, she and Audrey Muse released a collection of hand-painted bandanas and mixed textured pieces. The brand has also worked with others like Hannah Leigh, Parke, and Ana Stowell.

You can shop online, at a retailer near you or visit the new showroom on Palm Beach Island. The Logan Tay summer ’24 collection is launching in just a few weeks, and they also have another special collaboration coming soon. Keep an eye out.
