Myles Robinson’s Standish Cocktails

By Haley Dockendorff

Being a great bartender doesn’t just mean making a stiff drink. A truly memorable bartender not only mixes spirits – but lifts yours. Anyone who loves their local bars as much as we do knows it’s more than a cocktail; it’s about the ceremony and experience.

Bartender Myles Robinson is no stranger to such fans. Myles is a regulars’ favorite at Kapow! Noodle Bar in Boca Raton — and also an Instagram personality (@standishcocktails) — where the cocktails pair perfectly with delicious bites and his gravitational aura.

Myles began his bartending journey nearly 20 years ago when he was working as a food runner at T.G.I Fridays. His managers gave him the opportunity to become a server, and from there moved his way up to the bar. Myles attributes the fact they picked him to his eagerness to learn, which has carried over in his career and played a role in creating his Instagram brand, Standish Cocktails.

“A buddy sent me a link to do a cocktail video for a brand that was really trying to support service industry workers that had been home [because of the pandemic], So I entered and fell in love with the process,” Myles said.

Something that started as a passion project for Myles and his wife, Melissa, has turned into a brand with over 28 thousand followers. Instead of letting the horrors of lockdown and the pandemic let them “go at each other’s throats,” Myles and Melissa found a way to connect by making short, DIY cocktail videos. The account has evolved to feature segments like “Feel Good Fridays” in partnership with Kenny Burns and “Simply Batched Cocktails” using Simply juice as a mixer. The idea for Simply Batched came from Melissa, as she doesn’t work in the service industry but wanted to see simple yet delicious cocktails anyone could make.

The Standish Cocktails Instagram features unique drink recipes that are often inspired by food pairings.

“There is something magical about pairing flavors in a cocktail that don’t sound like they would make sense in a drink, but when put together in a way that’s harmonious, the possibilities become endless,” Myles said.

Some of the craziest recipes of his we’re excited to try? The tequila vinaigrette sounds delicious, and his Guinness lamb meatball sub is something we’ve never seen before. His recipes range from savory flavors like a tequila pineapple ham sandwich to sweet treats like cognac pear tarts or a prosecco float. Whatever your taste buds are craving, Standish Cocktails has something for everyone.

Myles says his main goal is to keep growing and evolving with his mixology and homing in on his craft is at the top of his list.

“I see where I’m at and where I’m headed,” Myles said, “I have a voice, and I’m someone who is very passionate about this business…I just take life one pour at a time.”
