Set sail to boynton beach oct. 25-26.

By Haley Dockendorff

Don’t be surprised if you see a crowd of people in leather boots, gold chains, and brimmed hats with freakishly long feathers on them around Boynton Beach this weekend.

Well – that might sound like an average day in Florida to you. But more characters than usual will be out on the town because Pirate Fest is back – ready the rum!

From noon to 10 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 25 and noon to 6 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 26, a plethora of Captain Jack Sparrows can be spotted at Boynton’s Centennial Park and Amphitheater. With halloween just around the corner, it’s the perfect excuse to get dressed up and embrace the buccaneer spirit (yes, even if you’re a Dolphins fan – good luck with that, by the way) that has so much history on Florida’s shores.

Pirate Fest is a free event that everyone in the family can enjoy. From food vendors to costume contests to treasure hunts and market vendors, your kids (or husband) won’t be begging you to go home.

Events

Got a foodie in your life? Over 30 food vendors will be at Pirate Fest, ensuring there’s something for them to enjoy.

Kids are also welcome to enjoy the Lil Scallywag Zone, with plenty of events to keep your little ones busy like glitter tattoos, treasure hunts, some good old fashioned jousting, and even story times with a few pirates. And of course, what would a pirate fest be without mermaids? Head over to the Mermaid Grotto to get a makeover at the Jellyfish Salon from our fishy friends.

On top of the events and activities, over 40 market vendors will be at Pirate Fest if you’re looking to take home some of the whimsy elements and treasures you might see.

The weekend would not be complete without the highly anticipated costume contest, so don’t shy away from going full-out like its homecoming week in High School. Kids and adults are eligible for this one, so start planning out looks for the whole family.
