4 Dog Beaches in PB County

Who better to enjoy a beach day with than your best friend? Bringing your dog(s) to the beach can be a great treat for your pal whether they swim, fetch, or socialize.

1. Bark Beach Boca

Bark Beach, fittingly named, is at Spanish River Park 3001 North Ocean Blvd. Dogs are allowed between lifeguard towers 18 to 20. Dogs can be off leash on the beach, but must be leashed before and after entering. This option is best for Boca locals. Residents get a hefty discount on the permit fee for their pooch. Be sure to visit their website for specific rules and how to get a permit.

2. Jupiter Beach

The 2.5 length from Marcinski Rd. to the property line of Carlin Park, allows off-leash dogs (must be leashed in parking lots). That is beach marker #26 to #57. This dog beach requires less planning and is free! It’s an easy place to swing by — not counting if you end up having to try to parallel park on Beach Road, but that’s neither here nor there.

3. Boynton Beach Intracoastal Park

This is, of course, more of a park than a beach. Swimming is not permitted in the intracoastal waterway. But there are other amenities for you and your dog to enjoy. There is a beach, picnic benches, a playground, and more. This is a good choice for those who aren’t ready to brave the hot sand for an entire day. Here, you and your dog can have the running water and the salt water.

Days:
Everyday
Times:
Sunrise – 9 p.m.
Permit:
Not required

4. Peanut Island

Peanut Island, accessible by water taxi or private boat, is the final dog friendly beach on our list. It’s located in the Palm Beach Inlet, just south of Blue Heron Blvd. Dogs are required to be leashed on the island. This is a popular day trip spot and is great for those who don’t want to keep their dogs sequestered on the boat.

Days:
Everyday
Times:
Sunrise – Sunset
Permit:
Not required

Remember to always be mindful of the beach’s rules and of your dog’s comfort. Before taking your dog to any of these beaches, ensure that you have strong recall (if they’ll be off leash), plenty of water for them, and a reprieve from the hot sand.
