Locale Films Premier

Every year paddleboarders gather to embark on the daunting 80-mile paddle from Bimini, Bahamas to Lake Worth Beach, Fla. to raise money for Cystic Fibrosis. The Crossing for Cystic Fibrosis is an initiative of Piper’s Angels Foundation for Cystic Fibrosis, started by Travis Suit shortly after his then-4-year-old daughter was diagnosed with cystic fibrosis. Paddlers who participate in the race spend months fundraising prior to the journey.

Many local South Floridians are familiar with The Crossing for Cystic Fibrosis. However, with the release of the film “The Crossing: Through Blue” by Locale Films, we’ll gain a deeper understanding of the triumph that is The Crossing. The film premiers on Dec. 21 at the Savor Cinema in Fort Lauderdale. All ticket proceeds will go to Piper’s Angels Foundation.

Blake Carmichael, the CEO of BLU3 — a company innovating in the diving space with tankless systems — completed his first crossing this past year. The film documents the journey as Team BLU3 experienced it, including Blake taking first place in the Competitive Men’s 14’ SUP Solo Division.

This was also Locale Films’ filmmakers, Logan Graham and Zachary Soloman’s, inaugural experience at the race. “One of our favorite parts, for the visuals alone, was the Rose Ceremony,” they said. “In order to capture this event, we positioned ourselves in the center of a massive circle of hundreds of paddlers in the ocean, connected by holding hands. All to achieve the best perspective possible, a common theme throughout our entire production process.” Not to mention keeping their cameras dry.

The film also features Travis and his backstory, 4Ocean’s annual pre-race beach cleanup in Bimini, and tankless diving in Bimini with BLU3.
